Elk Grove Motorist Dies After Being Crushed Between 2 Pickup Trucks in Sacramento

, Calif. – A 47-year-old man was killed after his vehicle was crushed between two pickup trucks on Highway 99 in South Sacramento Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at about 8 a.m. on northbound Highway 99 near Mack Road.

Authorities say the Elk Grove man was driving a 2002 Toyota northbound on Highway 99 when he decreased speed because a 2022 GMC truck in front of him began to slow down in traffic.

A 21-year-old Patterson man, operating a 2020 Ford F-320, failed to slow down and rear-ended the Toyota, pushing it forward and causing it to crash into the GMC truck that was infront.

The Elk Grove man was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he later died, CHP officials said on Tuesday.

The victim's name was withheld pending next of kin notification.

The incident remains under investigation.
