Rider Dies after Crashing into SJPD Car at Intersection in San Jose

, Calif. – A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash involving a SJPD car at an intersection in San Jose Tuesday evening.

Authorities said the deadly wreck happened at around 6:40 p.m. on January 30 at Story Road and Jackson Avenue.

Per the report, an unmarked unit assigned to the Violent Crimes Enforcement team had attempted to stop a man riding a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle.

The rider failed to stop and speed away on Story Road.

The motorcyclist ran a red light at Jackson Avenue and slammed into unrelated patrol vehicle.

He was transported with severe injuries, where he died while receiving treatment.

His name was released pending notification of the next of kin.

The wreck remains under investigation.
