Woman Killed in Spokane Pedestrian Accident on East Empire Avenue

Spokane, Wash. – A woman was killed in an auto- accident on Saturday evening in northeast Spokane, according to the Spokane Police Department.

The incident took place on East Empire Avenue and North Morton Street just after 7 p.m. January 3.

Police said a 35-year-old woman was walking across Empire Avenue when she was hit by a car driven by Gary Thompson, 70.

The woman was then hit by a second car and she fell onto the roadway.

The victim died at the scene of the accident.

Thompson was reportedly impaired at the time of the crash and was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide.

The accident is under investigation.
