The driver of a Honda Civic was heading northbound on Elkhorn Boulevard and is believed to have been driving recklessly when it sideswiped a Nissan near Andrea Boulevard

North Highlands, Calif. – According to the California Highway Patrol, reckless driving is suspected to be a factor in a traffic collision that claimed the lives of two drivers in North Highlands on Sunday afternoon.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a man in his 30s was driving a Honda Civic northbound on Elkhorn Boulevard and is believed to have been driving recklessly when it sideswiped a Nissan near Andrea Boulevard at about 3:33 p.m. Sunday, February 4.
The impact caused the two vehicles to travel into the westbound traffic lane where they collided with a Ford Maverick operated by a man in his 50s.
The Civic driver and the Maverick driver were killed in the crash. The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
The Nissan driver was hospitalized with minor injuries. A passenger in the Maverick, a woman in her 50's was also hospitalized with major injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.

The deadly incident happened at about 3:33 p.m. in the area of Andrea and Elkhorn Boulevards.
A witness told investigators that one of the involved cars suddenly swerved and collided with the other.
