A 17-year-old boy Hollister was driving a Honda Accord at a high rate of speed southbound on Maher Road when the vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a northbound Honda Fit on Maher Road

Monterey County, Calif. – A 16-year-old Hollister boy is dead and two other people were injured following a two-vehicle traffic collision on Maher Road in Prunedale Friday afternoon.
The accident happened at about 4:34 p.m. on the southbound Maher Road just south of Tamara Lane.
The California Highway Patrol said a 17-year-old boy Hollister was driving a Honda Accord at a high rate of speed southbound on Maher Road when the vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a northbound Honda Fit on Maher Road. The Fit, driven by a 29-year-old Watsonville man, was traveling at about 30 mph when it was struck head-on.
The impact caused the Honda to overturn and the driver and the 16-year-old passenger were ejected from the vehicle.
The 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were taken to Natividad Medical Center with major injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.

Prunedale, Calif. – At least one person was killed in a head-on collision on Maher Road in Prunedale Friday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at around 4:34 p.m. on the southbound Maher Road just south of Tamara Lane.
Two vehicles collided head-on in unclear circumstances causing one of the vehicles to roll over and ejecting two people.
At least one person was killed in the collision.
The identities of the deceased were not immediately disclosed.
No additional information about the wreck was available.
