Portland, Ore. – A 51-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Southeast Mission Street in Salem Thursday evening.

According to the authorities, the auto-pedestrian accident was reported at around 6:15 p.m. on Southeast Mission Street  and Southeast Avenue.

Reportedly, 69-year-old Daniel Carmona was driving on the streets when he hit a male pedestrian crossing the streets.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The Carmona stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers.

The incident caused the closure of a section of Mission Street Southeast for about four hours as police investigated the crash.
