San Jose, Calif. – A woman died after she was hit by a utility vehicle backing out of a driveway Saturday afternoon in San Jose, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 2:09 on February 10 on Saratoga Avenue near Belvedere Drive.
Police said the woman was walking on a sidewalk along Saratoga when a Volkswagen utility vehicle backing out of a driveway in reverse struck her.
The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries.
The driver stopped and cooperated with law enforcers.
The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office will release the victim's name when they inform her family.

The crash happened near Saratoga Avenue and Belvedere Drive just after 2 p.m.
An unidentified pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the area under unclear circumstances.
The victim died after being transported to a hospital.
Two southbound lanes of Saratoga Avenue were shut down between Belvedere Drive and Blackford as authorities investigated the crash.
