Valley, Calif. – A 63-year-old man was hospitalized with major injuries after he was hit by a car while riding a in Carmel Valley on Monday afternoon.

According to the San Diego Police Department Office, the accident was reported at around 1:30 p.m. in the 12300 block of Carmel Creek Road.

A 33-year-old woman was driving a 2023 white Chevrolet Volt northbound when she made an unsafe turn and struck the bicyclist.

The cyclist sustained severe injuries to his head and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.
