Two vehicles collided in bore 4, one of them overturning, and sending one person to the hospital with major injuries.

Orinda, Calif. – One person sustained major injuries in a two-vehicle collision that happened Wednesday afternoon in the bore 4 of Caldecott Tunnel in Orinda.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 12:40 p.m. in the westbound slow lane of the bore 4 along Highway 24.
A Honda CR-V and a white Toyota 4Runner were involved in the accident. The Toyota overturned in the No. 2 lane, and the Honda was blocking the No. 1 lane.
Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and Caltrans personnel responded to the scene.
The firefighters extricated one person who was trapped in one of the cars.
A male party was transported to the hospital with a major head injury.
Bore 4 remained closed during the operation and investigation.
