Jefferson County, Wash – The Washington State Patrol has released the identity of a woman who was killed in a two-vehicle traffic collision as Donna M. Haney, 71, of  Everett.

Haney was operating a Subaru Outback that crashed into a trailer truck and landed in a ditch on Highway 104 near Hood Canal bridge.

Jefferson County, Wash. – An Everett woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 104 in Jefferson Thursday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident happened at about 9:45 a.m. just west of the Hood Canal bridge.

Authorities say the woman was driving a Subaru Outback westbound on Highway 104 from the bridge and tried to pass a truck at a stretch of the road where there are two lanes in that direction. For some reason, the woman lost control of her vehicle, struck the trailer truck, and landed in a ditch.

The truck, operated by a 44-year-old Olympia man, stopped on the shoulder of the Highway. The truck driver contacted 911 and when troopers arrived, they found the Subaru driver dead, according to Washington State Patrol.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was traveling too fast for the conditions at the time of the crash.

According to WSP, Snow was reported across Jefferson County early Thursday morning.

The crash remains under investigation.
