Fatal Head-On Collision on Highway 126 at Mohawk Blvd in Springfield

Springfield, Ore. – A wrong-way driver was killed in a crash on State Route 126 in Springfield early Sunday morning.

The Springfield Police Department received reports regarding a deadly crash at around 2:38 p.m. on Highway 126 just west of Mohawk Boulevard.

A preliminary investigation determined the driver of the 2000 Honda Civic took the eastbound off-ramp from Mohawk Blvd, entered the highway driving westbound and was struck head-on by the semi-truck.

The Civic driver, whose name was not disclosed, died at the scene.

More details about the collision was not available.

An investigation is ongoing.
