Newhall, Calif. – Jose Magana Valencia, 41, has been identified as the man who died after being struck by a car near Newhall early Sunday morning.
The collision happened at around 2:41 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, south of Highway 14, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Los Angeles man's 1977 Ford became disabled in the northbound lanes of the freeway for unknown reasons.
The man exited the vehicle and was struck by a 1998 Ford driven by a 36-year-old Inglewood man.
Valencia was pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to the L.A. County Coroner's Office.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
