A southbound train with about 52 passengers hit a person on the tracks between the California Avenue and San Antonio stations

Palo Alto, Calif. – One person died after being hit by a Caltrain late Tuesday morning on tracks in Palo Alto, Caltrain said.
The accident happened a few minutes before noon on the southbound tracks between the California Avenue and San Antonio stations.
A person was on the track for an unknown reason when they were hit by a southbound No. 114 train carrying about 52 passengers.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both southbound and northbound trains were stopped in the area during an investigation.
At around 12:22 p.m., trains were allowed to move through at a reduced speed of 10 mph.
The accident is being investigated by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Transit Police Bureau.
