Placer County, Calif. – Authorities have arrested a man who struck a bicyclist last month in Placer County.

The accident happened at Crosby Herold Road and Wise Road on January 30, according to the California Highway Patrol.

18-year-old Abraham Aguirre-Escobar, of , was driving a car when he struck a bicyclist in unclear circumstances.

The cyclist was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Aguirre-Escobar drove away after the accident but has since been arrested.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
