, Calif. – A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle early Friday morning on a highway in Santa Rosa, the California Highway Patrol said.

Authorities said the accident occurred around 2:29 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 under the Airport Boulevard overpass.

The driver of a car called 911 reporting that they had hit a pedestrian.

The driver pulled over on the right-hand shoulder. A Good Samaritan in a propane also stopped on the right-hand shoulder and walked back to the scene to offer help.

The report said the pedestrian died in the collision.

Northbound Highway 101 at Airport Boulevard was shut down following the accident.
