A person was on the tracks for an unknown reason when they got hit by Caltrain No. 503 heading to San Francisco from San Jose
Atherton, Calif. – One person died after being struck by a Caltrain Friday morning on tracks in Atherton, Caltrain said.
The accident took place around 10:12 a.m. near Fair Oaks Lane.
The agency said someone was on the tracks for an unknown reason when they got hit by northbound train No. 503 going to San Francisco from San Jose.
The victim died from injuries suffered in the accident.
The train had 103 passengers aboard at the time of the crash. None of them were injured.
Trains in the area were stopped during an investigation.
