San Luis Obispo, Calif. – A 45-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver in San Luis Obispo on Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident took place on Highway 101 north of Prado Road at around 11:30 p.m. March 2.

The CHP said Jace Haro, 21, of San Luis Obispo, was driving a 2013 Dodge Challenger northbound on Highway 101 when he drifted off the roadway, struck a light pole, and crashed into a nearby homeless encampment.

One of the two people in the encampment, a 45-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The other , identified as Christopher Brasket, 52, complained of pain to his arm.

Haro, who was treated for a moderate injury to his hand, was later booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

The accident is under investigation.
