, CA. – A 13-year-old girl was seriously injured after being hit by a car at an intersection in Rancho Cordova.

The auto- accident happened around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Zinfandel and International drives, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

The girl was struck by an SUV on the roadway in unclear circumstances. The SUV driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

The girl was then struck by a silver sedan while she was still in the roadway. The sedan then drove away and was yet to be located.

The girl was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
