Sacramento, CA – One person was killed and another injured when a vehicle struck two pedestrians on Fruitridge Road in Sacramento early Tuesday morning, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The incident took place between Laurine Way and Lawrence Drive at about 4 a.m.
Police said a pedestrian was pushing another on a wheelchair when they were hit by the vehicle. It's unclear whether the pedestrians were walking along the road or trying to cross when they were hit.
The pedestrian on the wheelchair died at the scene.
The other pedestrian was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The involved driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the accident.
