Clatsop County, Ore. – The Oregon State Police has released the identities of the person killed and those injured in a three-vehicle crash in Clatsop County on Wednesday, April 10.
The deceased was identified as Kaleb Allen Shaffer (48) of Warrenton. Shaffer was a passenger in the Toyota Sienna that caused the incident.
Those injured were identified as David Timothy Schalk Jr. (53) of Astoria, Marti Ree Lindhorst (68) of Salem, Tara Lynne Ragan (55) of Astoria, and Wendy Lee Sides (53) of Seaside.
Schalk Jr. was operating the Toyota at the time of the crash. Lindhorst and Ragan were operating the Dodge and the Kia respectively. Wendy Sides was a passenger in the Kia.

Clatsop County, Ore. – One person was killed and four others were injured following a traffic collision involving three vehicles on Highway 101 in Clatsop County Wednesday afternoon, according to Oregon State Police.
The deadly accident happened at about 12:43 p.m. on April 10, 2024, on Hwy-101, near milepost 13.
Police say southbound traffic was stopped for a vehicle attempting to turn left onto Turlay Laen. The driver a southbound Toyota Sienna crossed the double yellow line and began passing the stopped traffic in the northbound lane and struck the northbound guardrail.
The Toyota was redirected back into the northbound lane where it crashed into a northbound Dodge Ram 1500. The impact caused the Dodge Ram to roll into the southbound lane and collide with a stopped Kia Soul.
According to Oregon State Police, a passenger in the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota driver, the Dodge driver, the Kia driver, and a passenger in the Kia were injured in the incident. All four patients were transported to a local hospital.
The highway was shut down for approximately 5.5 hours as officers investigated the crash.
