Chula Vista, CA. – Authorities have identified a victim killed in a fiery car crash on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista Last Month.
Rafi Thamir Shaba, 24, of Spring Valley was killed in a traffic collision at around 5:05 p.m. on March 24 on the southbound 5 Freeway south of Palomar Street.
Shaba was driving a southbound BMW sedan on the freeway when he lost control and collided with a southbound car.
The vehicle then drove into an embankment, overturned, and caught fire.
Shaba was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.

Chula Vista, CA – At least one person was killed Sunday evening following a rollover crash on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened at 5 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Palomar Street.
According to a CHP incidents log, several vehicles were involved in the collision. The crash happened in the right-hand lanes of the freeway and at least one of the involved vehicles was engulfed by fire.
Following the incident, all southbound traffic was diverted from the freeway onto Palomar Street as crews and investigators worked at the scene, according to Caltrans San Diego.
