Update: Derek German ID'd as One of Two Boys Killed in Head-on Crash on I-15 near Baker

San Bernardino, CA – The Medical Examiner has identified the 11-year-old boy who died along with Alicia Ramos and Isaac Velasco in a head-on crash on 15 Freeway near Baker.

The victim, identified as Derek Mateo German was a passenger in a Kia SUV that hydroplaned and crashed head-on with a black Mercedez SUV.

Derek German and Isaac Jacob Velasco were pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision happened at around 1:44 p.m. March 31 on northbound , south of Halloran Springs Road off-ramp.

Reportedly, a Kia SUV hydroplaned in the rain and crashed head-on with a black Mercedes Benz SUV.

Ramos was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Isaac and the other boy were declared deceased at the crash site.

San Bernardino County, CA – Three people, among them two children, were killed and four other people were injured in a head-on crash on Interstate 15 near Baker Saturday Afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly accident happened about 1:44 p.m. on northbound Interstate 15, south of Halloran Springs Road off-ramp.

According to the CHP, a black Mercedes Benz SUV drove from the southbound side of the freeway into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Kia SUV.

Two children were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim died on the way to the hospital.

Five helicopters were requested to the scene to transport the injured parties. Four patients, among them a 3-year-old baby with a severed right arm, were airlifted to the hospital. The mother of the baby, a 40-year-old woman, was transported by a ground ambulance to Community Hospital. The mother was reportedly paralyzed from the accident.

San Bernardino County, CA – At least one person is dead following a head-on crash that also sent a mother and a 3-year-old child to hospital on 15 Freeway in San Bernardino County Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 1:44 p.m. on northbound Interstate 15, south of Halloran Springs Road off-ramp.

According to the CHP, a black Mercedes Benz SUV and a Kia SUV were involved in the crash. One of the vehicles went from the southbound side to the northbound lanes and collided head-on with the other vehicle.

CHP officers and San Bernardino County Fire crews responded to the scene following an iPhone traffic collision alert.

The firefighters transported a 40-year-old mother and a 3-year-old child to Barstow Community Hospital. The mother had possible paralysis and the child had a right arm injury.

According to the CHP, at least one person died in the crash.

No additional details regarding the incident were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
