A 39-year-old man in a wheelchair reportedly “leaned into the roadway” and was hit by a passing garbage truck.
Mesa, AZ. – A man in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a garbage truck Wednesday morning near an intersection in Mesa, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office reported.
MCSO said the incident took place around 10:15 a.m. near Broadway and Ellsworth roads.
A 39-year-old man in a wheelchair reportedly “leaned into the roadway” about 60 feet from the intersection when he was a passing garbage truck.
The pedestrian died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Investigators closed the eastbound lanes of Broadway during their investigation.
