Tulare, CA – A 21-year-old man was killed after a wrong-way driver collided head-on with another car on Highway 99 in Tulare County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened approximately 3:10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24 in the area of Highway 99 north of Betty Drive in Tulare County.
According to the CHP, 20-year-old Saul Saldana Armenta of Fresno was driving a 2015 Dodge Charger southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 approaching Betty Drive when he collided head-on with a 2022 Honda Civic driven by Lisandro Santos, 21, of Porterville
According to CHP, Lisandro Santos, who was a week away from celebrating his 22nd birthday, was killed in the crash.
CHP officials say alcohol may have been a factor in this crash.
Armenta sustained major injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital. He will be arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol once he is released from the hospital, authorities said.
The incident remains under investigation.
