According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported just before 1 a.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Bundy Drive.
Authorities said someone was in the driver's seat of the Waymo car with its self-driving capabilities activated when it collided with another vehicle.
The occupant of the driverless car and the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor-to-moderate injuries.
Investigators said speed was a possible factor in the crash but did not give extra information.
