Woman Killed, 2 Hospitalized after Head-On Crash at Hancock Avenue and Parkcrest Drive in Murrieta

Murrieta, CA. – A 73-year-old Murrieta woman was killed and two others injured in a head-on collision at Hancock Avenue in Murrieta late Wednesday night.

According to the Murrieta Police Department, the collision happened at around 11:50 p.m. on May 15 at Hancock Avenue and Parkcrest Drive.

Reportedly, Scott Anthony Ryan, 29, of Murrieta, was driving on Heacock, less than a quarter-mile south of Parkcrest, when his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the second vehicle.

A female passenger in the second car was rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center in with severe injuries, where she later died.

The man driving the vehicle the deceased was in was also rushed to the same hospital with serious injuries.

The passenger in Ryan's car was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased was released pending notification of the next of kin.

Ryan was arrested on suspicion of DUI gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI resulting in great bodily injury for allegedly causing the collision.

He was booked into the Byrd Detention Center Thursday morning, but he posted a $75,000 bond and was released a few hours later.

No more information about the wreck was provided.

An investigation is underway.
