Shana M. Williams was driving the wrong way on westbound I-82 when she crashed with another vehicle

Yakima, CA – The Washington State Patrol has identified a Toppenish woman who died Sunday night in a head-on traffic collision involving three vehicles on Interstate 82 in Yakima.
The woman was identified as 27-year-old Shana M. Williams.
The crash took place shortly after 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 19. on westbound I-82 about two miles east of the Donald Wapato Bridge.
According to WSP, Williams was driving a 2006 Subaru Legacy sedan eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-82 when she collided head-on with a westbound 2017 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Fernando Meraz-Ontiveros, 22, of Yakima.
The impact sent the Cruze into the right lane where it struck a 2013 Dodge Charger driven by Edwin Carmona, 21, of Union Gap.
Williams was taken to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital where she was declared dead.
Meraz-Ontiveros was also taken to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital in unknown condition.

Yakima, CA – A woman was killed in a collision that took place south of Yakima on Sunday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash took place on Interstate 82 on Sunday, May 19.
The WSP said a 27-year-old Toppenish woman was driving the wrong way on westbound I-82 when she crashed with another vehicle.
The impact sent the second vehicle into a third vehicle.
According to the report, the Toppenish woman and one of the other drivers were taken to a hospital, where the woman succumbed to her injuries.
The WSP said DUI is suspected to have played a role in the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
