The wreck took place on Business 80 near the E Street onramp at about 6:16 a.m.
One vehicle reportedly crashed into the back of a second vehicle.
The impact sent one of the vehicles off the roadway and it slammed into a tree.
Emergency crews rescued at least two parties who were trapped in the wreckage.
The extricated parties, a man and a woman, were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
