, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in the Tenderloin neighbourhood of San Francisco on Thursday afternoon, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The incident took place on Ellis and Jones streets at around 12:40 p.m. May 24.

Police said a commercial truck hit a pedestrian in the area under unclear circumstances.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck stayed at the scene after the accident.

Impairment was not suspected to have played a role in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
