Hesperia, CA. – Oscar Castaneda, 39, of Victorville has been identified as a pedestrian killed in a crash on Mariposa Road in Hesperia Friday night.
The auto-pedestrian crash was reported at around 10:45 p.m. on May 17 at the S curb on Mariposa Road near Eucalyptus Street.
Castaneda was struck and killed by a vehicle in unclear circumstances.

Hesperia, CA. – A male pedestrian was fatally injured in a traffic collision Friday night on Mariposa Road in Hesperia.
According to the authorities, the incident happened at around 10:45 PM on May 17, 2024, at the S curb on Mariposa Road near Eucalyptus Street.
Reports indicated that a male pedestrian was crossing the streets when for unknown reasons he was struck by a vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Both directions of Mariposa Road were closed for several hours during the investigation.
No additional information about the incident was provided.
An investigation is underway.
