Morgan Hill, CA. – One person died in a traffic collision that happened Tuesday night on Highway 101 in Morgan Hill, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident was reported around 9:17 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near Cochrane Road.
A person called 911 and informed authorities that a big rig crossed from the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes of the highway, possibly dragging an object, and the reporting party ran over the object. The reporting party was in a white Chrysler Pacifica.
Authorities responded to the scene and found a motorcycle trapped underneath a Ram 2500. A big rig was stopped on the right shoulder. About 60-75 feet of guardrail and multiple posts were damaged in the collision.
The responders blocked all traffic lanes.
Paramedics pronounced one person dead at the scene at 9:34 p.m.
The big rig was towed away from the scene for evidence.
CHP officers are investigating the collision.
