Morgan Hill, CA. – A 19-year-old San Jose woman died in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Tuesday night in Morgan Hill, the California Highway Patrol said.
The pileup was reported around 9:20 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 near Cochrane Road.
According to CHP, the woman was riding a 2023 Yamaha R7 motorcycle in the left lane when she crashed into the rear of a 2023 Kia Forte traveling at 5 mph.
The motorcyclist continued northbound and collided with a 2016 Ram 2500 that was stopped for a separate collision.
The woman was thrown from the motorcycle, coming to a rest under the truck.
Her motorcycle continued into the next lane and struck a 2009 Ford Escape traveling at about 40 to 50 mph.
First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her name was not released pending next of kin notification by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office.
Authorities are investigating the collision.

Morgan Hill, CA. – One person died in a traffic collision that happened Tuesday night on Highway 101 in Morgan Hill, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident was reported around 9:17 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near Cochrane Road.
A person called 911 and informed authorities that a big rig crossed from the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes of the highway, possibly dragging an object, and the reporting party ran over the object. The reporting party was in a white Chrysler Pacifica.
Authorities responded to the scene and found a motorcycle trapped underneath a Ram 2500. A big rig was stopped on the right shoulder. About 60-75 feet of guardrail and multiple posts were damaged in the collision.
The responders blocked all traffic lanes.
Paramedics pronounced one person dead at the scene at 9:34 p.m.
The big rig was towed away from the scene for evidence.
CHP officers are investigating the collision.
