San Diego, CA. – The 17-year-old boy killed in an Amtrak train accident has been identified as Alex Segal, a Torrey Pines High School Student, according to a local news report.
The deadly crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on June 16, near Sorrento Valley Road and Sorrento Valley Boulevard.
Police said Segal was cycling and was crossing the train tracks when he was hit by an oncoming train.
Segal was declared dead at the accident scene.
Alex was a member of the boy's junior varsity soccer team in his school.

San Diego, CA. – A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed by an Amtrak train on Friday afternoon near an intersection in San Diego.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened at around 12:30 p.m. on June 16 near Sorrento Valley Road and Sorrento Valley Boulevard.
Witnesses told authorities three boys cycling were stopped at the crossing arms to give way to a train heading northbound. After the train passed, a 17-year-old boy crossed the tracks on his bicycle without noticing a southbound train was also passing.
The boy was declared dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released awaiting notification of family.
The other cyclists were not hurt.
An investigation is underway.
