Fontana, CA. – At least two people were hospitalized after a fiery big rig collision that happened Monday afternoon in Fontana, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident took place around 3:20 p.m. on westbound Interstate 10 near Cherry Avenue.
CHP said four vehicles, including a semi-truck, a gray Kia Sorrento, and a white pickup truck, were involved in the accident.
One of the vehicles overturned and caught fire with the occupants still trapped inside. Good Samaritans were attempting to get the occupants out of the vehicle before emergency personnel arrived.
CHP said the crash resulted in major injuries. At least two people were taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Fontana firefighters extinguished the flames.
Several traffic lanes were shut down following the accident.
