2 Killed in Car Crash near 159th Avenue and Southeast Division Street in Portland

Portland, OR. – Two persons were dead and one sustained severe injuries following a car collision involving a stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning in Portland.

According to the Portland police, the accident happened at around 12:14 a.m. on June 25, near 159th Avenue and Southeast Division Street.

The Gresham police officers reportedly attempted to stop a stolen vehicle near the intersection when the vehicle fled. The car drove off and collided with another vehicle near the junction before hitting a utility pole cutting power in the area.

Two men inside the car that fled were declared dead at the scene. A third man in the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and stayed at the crash site.

Authorities closed Southeast Division Street between Southeast 136th Avenue and Southeast 142nd Avenue following the accident.

An investigation by the Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team is ongoing.
