Authorities said an AZDPS sergeant was conducting a commercial vehicle inspection when a passing driver slammed into the trooper's patrol truck, which was parked along the roadway.

Maricopa, AZ. – A driver was hospitalized after a traffic collision involving an Arizona Department of Public Safety vehicle that occurred Wednesday morning in Maricopa.
According to AZDPS, the crash took place around 6:30 a.m. on State Route 347 near milepost 177.
Authorities said an AZDPS sergeant was conducting a commercial vehicle inspection when a passing driver slammed into the trooper's patrol truck, which was parked along the roadway.
At the time of the crash, the patrol truck was unoccupied.
The sergeant and the commercial vehicle driver were not injured.
The driver of the other car was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities suspected that the motorist was impaired when they crashed into the patrol vehicle.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
