Police said at least five vehicles were involved in the accident and two people were extricated from one of the cars

Tempe, AZ – Kaleb Ballinger, 23, of East Valley, was killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Tempe on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Tempe Police Department, the wreck took place on Baseline Road and Country Club Way on Thursday, July 4.
Police said at least five vehicles were involved in the accident and two people were extricated from one of the cars.
Three people were taken to a hospital with critical injuries and one of them, identified as Ballinger, later died.
Three other patients were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said impairment is suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
