El Cajon, CA. – Three persons were injured following a rear-end collision on Monday in El Cajon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on eastbound Interstate 8 near the on-ramp at Mollison Avenue.
Police said one vehicle rear-ended the other for unknown reasons. The impact caused one of the vehicles to lose control and it went down a slope before landing upside down in a backyard on Ednabelle Court.
All three occupants in the overturned vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries ranging from moderate to severe degree.
No one else was hurt in the accident.
Police suspected speed to have played a role in the collision.
A SigAlert was issued in the area closing the on-ramp from Mollison Avenue to eastbound I-8.
An investigation is ongoing.
