Police officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of the crash and found a car wrapped around a traffic pole.
Hollister, CA. – A driver who was reportedly speeding died after colliding with another car Tuesday night at an intersection in Hollister.
According to the Hollister Police Department, the wreck occurred around 9:10 p.m. at Highway 25 and Hillcrest Road.
Police officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of the crash and found a car wrapped around a traffic pole.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
An initial investigation revealed that prior to the collision, the deceased was seen speeding southbound on Highway 25, passing other vehicles on the right shoulder.
The driver reportedly ran a red light at the intersection with Hillcrest Road and got hit by a car traveling westbound through the intersection.
The speeding vehicle spun out and hit the traffic pole.
It was unclear if the occupants of the other car were hurt.
Investigators shut down southbound Highway 25 between Meridian Street and Park Street and Hillcrest Road from Industrial and to Highway 25 as they worked the scene. The roads were opened at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.
