Phoenix, CA. – 44-year-old Henry Mandley was killed following a DUI collision on Saturday evening in Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The accident happened at about 5:42 p.m. on July 13, at 35th and Southern Avenues.
Police said two vehicles were involved. Mandley, the driver of one of the vehicles, was ejected from his vehicle.
Mandley sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital where he was later declared dead on Sunday morning.
A woman and two children riding in Mandley's vehicle were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. It was not immediately known if the patients were Mandley's relatives.
The driver of the second car identified as Fernando Rodriguez-Sanchez,22, was later arrested by police.
Initial investigation revealed Rodriguez-Sanchez was heading east on Southern Avenue and was passing stopped traffic through a bike lane. He then allegedly drove through the red light at the intersection and crashed into Mandley's vehicle.
Rodriguez-Sanchez and a passenger fled the scene but were arrested shortly after. Rodriguez-Sanchez was booked into jail for hit-and-run, DUI aggravated assault and endangerment.
An investigation is ongoing.
