San Jose, CA. – One person died in a pedestrian accident that took place Saturday evening on State Route 87 in San Jose, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision was reported around 5:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway just north of the Curtner Avenue on-ramp.
A male pedestrian in the roadway was hit by a car under unclear circumstances.
The victim was lying down in the roadway.
When San Jose firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene, they found a gray Ford Explorer parked sideways, blocking the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes.
The pedestrian was killed in the crash.
All northbound lanes of SR-87 north of Curtner Avenue were shut down following the accident.
