Four Hurt in Burnt Ranch Accident on Highway 299

Burnt Ranch, CA.- Four people were injured in a two-vehicle collision near Burnt Ranch in Trinity County on Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident took place on Highway 299 near mile marker 14.6 at about 10:21 a.m. July 21.

The CHP said a silver SUV was traveling westbound on Highway 299 when it tried to pass another vehicle and drifted across the double yellow lines.

The SUV then moved back into the southbound side to avoid oncoming traffic and crashed into the back of the vehicle it had tried to overtake.

The rear-ended vehicle then went off the left side and slammed into a tree.

Two women in the rear-ended vehicle had minor injuries while a third woman sustained moderate injuries.

The three patients were taken to Mad River Hospital in .

The man driving the SUV was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
