Manuel Ponce and Aurora Ponce Hurt in Moses Lake Accident on SR 17 near I-90

Moses Lake, WA.– Five people were injured in a collision involving a suspected DUI driver near Moses Lake on Sunday evening, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident took place on SR 17 near I-90 at around 6:45 p.m. August 4.

The WSP said John Gibson, 64, of Moses Lake, was driving a 2012 Toyota Rav4 westbound on Potato Frontage Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a 2018 Ford Explorer heading south on SR 17.

The driver of the Ford, Manuel Ponce, 54, of Moses Lake, and his passengers, Aurora Ponce, 56, and two children aged 13 and 8, were all transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Gibson was also taken to Good Samaritan for treatment and was arrested for DUI.

He also received a citation for failure to stop for a stop sign.

The accident is under investigation.
