According to a preliminary investigation, an eastbound Tesla Model S, operated by Scarlett Jewell Felder, 18, of Klamath Falls, crossed into the on-coming lanes and collided head-on with a westbound Jeep Wagoneer, operated by Michel Phillipe Sabourin, 65, of Naples (FL).
Jefferson County, OR. – The Oregon State Police is investigating a traffic collision that claimed one life and sent four others to hospital on Highway 20 in Jefferson County on Tuesday morning.
The deadly auto-car crash occurred at around 10:58 a.m. August 27 on State Route 20 near milepost 82.
According to a preliminary investigation, an eastbound Tesla Model S, operated by Scarlett Jewell Felder, 18, of Klamath Falls, crossed into the on-coming lanes and collided head-on with a westbound Jeep Wagoneer, operated by Michel Phillipe Sabourin, 65, of Naples (FL).
Felder was declared deceased at the scene.
Sabourin suffered minor injuries and was transported for evaluation. Three other passengers in the Jeep; Stephanie Anne Warren, 56, of West Linn, Parker David Warren, 25, of West Linn, and Holly Skye Ross, 24, of San Diego (CA); all sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported for treatment.
The highway was impacted for approximately three and half hours during the on-scene investigation.
Speed was considered to be the primary contributing factor to the crash.
No additional details regarding the mishap were provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
