A preliminary investigation indicated a Lexus sedan was driving west on Pacific Coast Highway and collided with a Alvarez crossing south across Pacific Coast Highway.
Long Beach, CA. – The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified 45-year-old Juan Alvarez as a pedestrian killed in a late Thursday night crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach.
Officers were sent to Pacific Coast Highway and Pasadena Avenue at about 11:50 p.m. September 19, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
A preliminary investigation indicated a Lexus sedan was driving west on Pacific Coast Highway and hit Alvarez who was crossing south across Pacific Coast Highway.
Alvarez was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Speed, distracted driving and impaired driving did not appear to have contributed to this collision.
No additional details regarding the crash were available.
The incident remains under investigation.
