The accident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. near Etiwanda Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.
Authorities said Fontana police officers responded to a call after another law enforcement agency lost a suspect during a pursuit.
The officers found the suspect car near the Rancho Cucamonga intersection.
The suspect driver then struck another vehicle.
Two passengers in the second car were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Another person, possibly the suspect, was also transported in handcuffs.
The report did not mention why the suspect was being pursued by police.
An investigation is ongoing.
