The WSP said a Thurston County deputy spotted a reckless driver on Yelm Highway and tried to stop them but the suspect fled the area
Tumwater, WA.- A man was killed in a collision in Tumwater on Thursday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The incident took place on Capitol Boulevard near Tumwater Boulevard shortly after 10 p.m. November 14.
The WSP said a Thurston County deputy spotted a reckless driver on Yelm Highway and tried to stop them but the suspect fled the area.
The deputy pursued the suspect but lost sight of them when they went west onto Tumwater Boulevard.
Shortly after, the deputy located a crash scene involving the suspect and another vehicle on Capitol Boulevard.
The suspect is said to have ran a red light at the intersection and collided with the second vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit by the suspect was killed in the crash.
The victim was identified as Dane A. Nielsen, 33, of Olympia.
The suspect was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with minor injuries.
He was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and fleeing a police vehicle. He was booked into the Thurston County Jail.
The WSP is investigating the crash.
