The 18-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with major injuries

Merced County, CA. – Three people were hospitalized after being injured in a car accident near Hilmar in Merced County on Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Highway 165 near Williams Avenue.
An 18-year-old man was driving a car southbound on 165 and was trying to pass a car in front of him in the fog.
The car side-swept the box truck and collided head-on with a pickup truck.
The 18-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Two men in the pickup truck were also hospitalized with unknown injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
