The pileup was reported around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Alessandro Boulevard and Mission Grove Parkway, which serves as an entrance to the shopping mall.

A CHP unit encountered the crash while transiting Alessandro.

The Riverside Fire Department also responded and found several car occupants trapped and in need of extrication.

Four people were extricated from the wreckage. Three of them were transported to Riverside Community Hospital, and a fourth was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in .
