Riverside, CA. – Four people, including children, were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle collision that happened Tuesday morning at an intersection near a shopping mall in south Riverside, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The pileup was reported around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Alessandro Boulevard and Mission Grove Parkway, which serves as an entrance to the shopping mall.
A CHP unit encountered the crash while transiting Alessandro.
The Riverside Fire Department also responded and found several car occupants trapped and in need of extrication.
Four people were extricated from the wreckage. Three of them were transported to Riverside Community Hospital, and a fourth was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley. The extent of their injuries was not mentioned, but their conditions were listed as stable. The exact number of children injured in the crash was not mentioned.
The Riverside Police Department responded to the scene a short time later and took over the investigation.
