Phoenix, AZ.- A woman was killed in a wrong-way collision in Phoenix early Wednesday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The incident took place on Interstate 17 near 7th Avenue.
An 18-year-old woman was reportedly driving north in the southbound lanes of I-17 when she collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The man driving the pickup was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The southbound lanes were shut down for hours as authorities investigated the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
